Most Wanted Sedan Under $25,000

2005 Chrysler 300Winner: Chrysler 300

Chrysler has introduced numerous all-new vehicles during the past couple of years, but none have hit with quite the same enthusiastic approval as the Chrysler 300. With its unique styling and optional 340-horsepower V8 Hemi engine, the 300 disposes of the notion that a family sedan can't be exciting. Its distinctive exterior look complements its unique interior treatment that's traditional in nature but upscale in appearance and feel. With base models starting in the low $20Ks, the 300 competes head-on with the Accord and Camry, but it's the top-of-the-line V8-powered 300C that really makes our mouths water. Where else can you get rear-wheel drive, over 300 hp and an interior that can swallow four adults with room to spare? While the competition tries to figure that one out, we'll be content behind the wheel of this ground-breaking sedan from Chrysler.

Honorable Mention: Mazda 6

Mazda has admitted the 626 was a poor attempt at trying to beat the Accord and Camry at their own game. Plus, if we're being honest, the 626 had absolutely zero "zoom-zoom." The Mazda 6 (which replaced both the Millenia and 626) is all about the "zoom-zoom." We love the 6's willing and free-revving 220-hp V6 and find the handling to be fun, sporty and confident without sacrificing everyday civility. Many editors praise the 6's good looks and refined powertrain but lament the somewhat cramped rear seat and questionable interior materials quality. Still, we can't resist the sheer fun-to-drive factor or the attractive design elements — the Mazda 6 is a truly sporty car cloaked in a sedan's body.
