Re: New Taurus X Deals [lew8]

Lew, I'm not sure why you're holding for a new one if you're concerned about the price difference. You should already know that the value of the car will drop like a brick once you drive it off the lot even with an increased incentive. A used TX is a year older or a little longer depending on service and I think they are an absolute bargain depending on where you look at. What exactly draws you to the "new" car over a "used" car? How much value is it to you to be the original owner of a TX? Only you can decide, so good luck. On another note, a friend of mine told me that a completely loaded Limited AWD w/ 7K miles at a Ford auction was listed at $21K. By completely loaded, he meant every option available on the Limited including navigation, dvd, power liftgate, etc. Hope that helps anyone.

HI all - Lew here again.... So I haven't bought a car yet. Here is why... I can't help but think that Ford will come out with excellent end of the year incentives in the next month to clear TX at the end of 2008. Does anyone have an idea if this will happen or if I should just take the best deal out there on a used low milage one like those I listed above. I just don't want to buy now and be sorry in three weeks if Ford starts giving them away. Any guesses or advise would be appreciated. I would really like a new Limited Loaded but cannot justify the price difference between the low mileage used TXs.

'46 straight eight then practiced shifting on quarter, three quarter, and a deuce and a half courtesy of the military, but not trained as a trucker. Thinking about that unlimited jk again - a lot different than the goosey jeep over there.

Bryon, When Buster and I drive our 07 Sport AT, we average over 40 mph on the highway and around 31 in the city. When our 2 granddaughters drive the car for any length of time, mileage drops to around 22 mph. That tells us something!! Regards, Bubba :shades:
Winter Trip to Texas

Along I-10 and I-20 from Phoenix to Abilene TX, prices varied widely. Saw as high as $2.29 and as low as $1.66. Diesel was as low as $2.29 at one truck stop, and RUG was $1.95 at the same place - only a 34 cent difference. I already saw one poster say, "I wish I still had my Tahoe." That's not the way we ought to be thinking, people !!!

I own an 05 FS Limited FWD since August 05 (47k miles, no real problems so far) and drove a rental 2008 TX for 2.5 weeks and 2000mls during the summer holiday from San Fran to Seattle. I would always prefer the CVT over the 6-spd. I didn't like how the 6spd permanently shifts up and down and i did not feel any of the additional power the 3.5l engine has. I had the impression it was all soaked up by the 6-spd transmission. Fuel economy was indeed worse but of course i don't have a direct comparison. I also didn't like the softer suspension set-up of the TX. Still a great car though but i really missed the CVT. Carsten
