Re: What are People Paying? [ksa]

I went into the dealership this evening braving the chill and snow of a Michigan winter evening. The dealership was empty yet no one came to assist me until about 5 minutes after I was looking around the car. OK - no big deal I thought. However, after listening to the specification of the vehicle (which i already knew from my research), I asked the dealer about what deals they had going. Imagine my astonishment when he told me there were NO deals on the SC. No 'A' plan accepted on the SC and no invoice pricing !!! His comment was ''if I was serious'' (Duh - why am I in the dealership on a snowy and windy night!), then maybe they may knock $1K off the MSRP. Wow, in today's econonmy (and with an empty dealership on a late opening night), I ws dumbfounded when he said there were no deals. In my business, we're having to cut deals left right and center (and I'm not involved in the auto industry !). This was really surprising. I don't see how they expect to survive this downturn when EVERYONE ELSE is willing to deal. Only today Aston Martin announced layoffs (one third of its workforce) in the UK. NO one and I mean NO one is immune to the effects of the financial crisis. I wonder why Jaguar think they're special !!! And how many are buying V8s in today's brave new world. Thanks, I'll look elsewhere for my next vehicle

Thanks for the advice and yes I live in a south eastern state. I like the light interior but I just figured that the ebony would be easier to maintain. A question regarding that taupe color interior. In the brochure and on the web it looks like a light gray color, but I always considered taupe more in the brown family. Is it more light gray like in the Accord? I do think the light interior looks classier, but I just hate that gray leather in the new Accord.

I like the light interior too, but I am just scared about keeping it clean. I can see myself marking my interior with an ink pen while writing something or my teenager's blue jeans staining the seats. Any suggestions on protecting those light seats?

Thanks I like that polished metal too. Didn't think about the taupe interior though. I keep thinking about light gray on the Accord and I not a fan of that. Could you describe the taupe for me? I was considering the black interior. All I know is, I don't want the new Accord. It's a nice car, but I am from a small town everyone and their uncle has one. Besides coming from an Accord I want and deserve a change I love the Honda brand and I just want an upgrade.

one data point -- I am original owner of a 1997 GS-R B18C1, now at 160,000 miles. I have changed oil + filter regularly every 3750 miles (twice as often as scheduled), but used only ordinary name brand 5w30 oil. Still have virtually zero oil consumption. I tried one change with Mobil 1 0w-20 as a fuel economy experiment at 150,000 miles and then took it on a 7300 mile cross-country trip (WA to ME to SC and back to WA). Even with this watery oil, consumption was still barely noticeable (say, 1/3 qt on the the whole trip). I am expecting my engine to be pretty healthy still at 200,000 miles, although the rest of the car, especially electrical, is beginning to raise doubts.
exterior paint

Does Honda and Acura use the same paint on their cars ? I noticed that some of the color trims are the same, so I was wondering is it the same paint. Is the polished metal metallic the same color on both cars?
