It came into our shop leaking coolant yesterday. Turned out to be a corroded pile that is part of the engine block. The woman who owns it… OK, I’ll bite, what’s a “pile”? I’ve heard of plugs and freeze plugs in the engine’s cooling system but never heard of a “pile”. Is this just another plus/extra you get when you buy a Honda? And I don’t want a “pile of shxx” for an answer like your service dept. gave that woman. :shades: jmonroe

the car (echo 2003) has presently 80,000km. I've bought it in 2007 with low millage (47500km) from a lady that was running the car very smoothly. The sparkplugs have been changed last spring and the air filter was checked and OK. I will check the mass air sensor today and try to come back to you before the end of the day . By the way what is a K&N air filter?

I went into the dealership this evening braving the chill and snow of a Michigan winter evening. The dealership was empty yet no one came to assist me until about 5 minutes after I was looking around the car. OK - no big deal I thought. However, after listening to the specification of the vehicle (which i already knew from my research), I asked the dealer about what deals they had going. Imagine my astonishment when he told me there were NO deals on the SC. No 'A' plan accepted on the SC and no invoice pricing !!! His comment was ''if I was serious'' (Duh - why am I in the dealership on a snowy and windy night!), then maybe they may knock $1K off the MSRP. Wow, in today's econonmy (and with an empty dealership on a late opening night), I ws dumbfounded when he said there were no deals. In my business, we're having to cut deals left right and center (and I'm not involved in the auto industry !). This was really surprising. I don't see how they expect to survive this downturn when EVERYONE ELSE is willing to deal. Only today Aston Martin announced layoffs (one third of its workforce) in the UK. NO one and I mean NO one is immune to the effects of the financial crisis. I wonder why Jaguar think they're special !!! And how many are buying V8s in today's brave new world. Thanks, I'll look elsewhere for my next vehicle

The market will bottom out in the first quarter of next year, Tom Libby, an analyst at J.D. Power and Associates, said in an interview with the newscast Automotive News Today. After that, he said, sales gradually will strengthen. OK, what is this guys track record regarding forecasts. I mean last year did he predict this year right? Because in order to know how many vehicles will be sold next year requires a good understanding of macroeconomics. Is this guy a PhD in economics? Not even the best minds on Wall Street or in Washington have a good handle on what's going to happen next month. The situation we're in economically is far more serious then what we're in now. The quote from the other day is that we're in the 1st inning of the next real estate crisis - commercial real estate. And then we have a trillion $ mess with credit card balances that will be hitting soon. And if we have any sort of terrorist attack that wrecks more havoc with trade. If you want proof of the mess we're in, consider that after all the blood that's been shed in the stock market so far, and all that the Treasyury is doing to prop up the financial system including multiple interest rate cuts, financial stocks fell an average of 17% today.

Navigation System Issues - 12/01/08
by themerg on Mon Dec 01 12:31:31 PST 2008
1. QWERTY Keyboard Initially Reported: 09/2008 When setting the keyboard layout to be in QWERTY mode, the keyboard layout reverts to Alphabet mode after changing the System mode (switching components) or when turning the Nav System off and on. The default settings menu will still show the layout selection to be in QWERTY mode even though it displays the keyboard in Alphabet mode. 2. iPod Random Issue Initially Reported: 10/2008 When selecting the iPod to play at Random, the feature is turned off if a different mode is selected, the audio system is turned off and on, or the Tuning dial on the radio is used to select a new song. The Random selection should be maintained during any of these changes. 3. Address Book Sorting Incorrect Initially Reported: 10/2008 When sorting the Address Book alphabetically and not by date, new addresses are incorrectly sorted when added. New addresses are added to the end of an addressbook instead of alphabetically. To correct the issue, you have to go into the settings and reselect alphabetically. 4. System Hang Initially Reported: 10/2008 Had an issue where the Hyundai logo stayed on screen and nothing could clear it. I tried to turning off and on the car and the same thing happened. I hit the Display button and the display settings screen came on. When I hit another button to try to get the iPod screen, I got a Windows pop-up on the screen that told me I had a fatal application error. I selected OK and the system rebooted and started working fine. 5. iPod Not Turning Off Initially Reported: 09/2008 When turning off the car, my iPod is not turning off on its own. According to the developer it is supposed to. Also, I found that if I manually turn it off while leaving it connected, it sometimes turns back on a few minutes later even though the vehicle is off. I am unsure if somehow it is receiving power when the car door is opened or not, but something is triggering it to turn back on. 6. USB Device Random Issue Initially Reported: 10/27/2008 When using a USB drive to play music files, the Random setting works as long as you do not change a song manually. As soon as you change the song using the steering wheel controls or the radio seek buttons, the Random setting turns itself off. - Merg
