Re: Passat CC equipment and price question [time4anewcar]
by kaysid on Mon Dec 01 19:45:10 PST 2008
Hi 1) Nope the Sport does not come with a Sunroof that is only on the Lux models, which cannot be had with the MT. BTW not sure if you know the sunroof doesnt actually slide open it just tilts up a couple of inches. 2) I havent actually pulled the trigger yet also looking for a MT Sport 2.0 CC but waiting for my current lease to expire in Feb 09. I have been offered from 300-500 over invoice and that was really without any negotiating. This was for dealers in NJ and Eastern PA. Saying that though I hear the CC's are selling well since they are being bought by VW enthusiasts and previuous customers.

Hope this helps! Good luck out there!

Prestige is huge. When I get my S5, it's going to give me instant respect. When I take my wife out to dinner, in the Subway drive-thru, I expect people to realize I'm there to get double meat on my foot long club. Not some skeezer. It will say I have arrived, bow down before me. & never give preferential treatment to a lowly Hundai driver.

Undersrtood. I love my 6MT. I think that when Acura added the S type, they did away with the MT for nonS's. I also wouldnkt pay extra for the S, so I'm thinking my next car will be a CTS, G8, or legacy GT
I favor the '09 Fit over the '04 Prius
by tonyspumoni on Wed Nov 26 20:34:51 PST 2008
Posted this on the largest Fit forum (First Drive)..., but thought I drop in here briefly. I used to own both an '04 and an 05' Prius. I recently sold the '04, kept the '05 (my wife's car), and bought an '09 Fit MT Sport. I liked the Prius but love the new Fit. I haven't had the Fit long - a week - and haven't racked up the miles - 170 or so - but even if the mileage computer is off by 15%, I'm still getting over 35 mpg (computer says 41.7 mpg now) under the exact same conditions where, over the course of four years, I've managed a lifetime calculated mileage in the Prius of 45 mpg. The Fit handles better, rides better (firmer and more connected), steers better, seems quieter under power (the Prius whines like sleep-deprived four year old when you hammer it), and feels more like a car and less like a driving appliance. To be fair, my wife says she still prefers the Prius which she characterizes as "smoother", which I interpret as "more isolated from the road". Paradoxically, while indeed firmer, the Fit's ride is not jarring or jumpy - just more engaged with the road. This is of course quite subjective and not a terribly fair comparision, since the Fit's suspension has 170 miles on it and the Prius's had 67k and 45k under their respective belts, but having ridden in a friend's newer Prius it seems more true than not that the Prius rides like a Camry while the Fit rides like the old Civics used to ride.
Old Prius Driver Loves New Fit

I just replaced an '04 Prius with an '09 Fit Sport MT and have zero regrets so far. Can't speak to mileage in detail yet as I have only put about 170 miles on the Fit, but the calculated mpg is currently running at 41.7 (35 psi front, 35 psi rear, 10% ethanol blend, all suburbilishis driving - 0 to 60 to 0 to 60 to 0 to 60, ran the idle learn procedure ala Kip et al. immediately after getting it home). Since my lifetime actual mileage on my Prius is 45 mpg for the exact same route and driver, I consider the switch out of the hybrid back into a gas-only model to be a either a minor setback or even a tactical victory. Handling is night and day in favor of the Fit. The ride is vastly more connected to the road, cornering is flatter, and the steering crisp and precise. Steering the Prius was like sailing a yacht - every nub in the road made it wander and wallow around - and there was significant play. Were it not for the fact that my wife drives an '05 Prius that exhibits the exact same attributes, I'd claim that the lack of responsiveness in the Prius was a bug instead of a feature. Reviews have placed the Fit's ride on the bumpy side, but I've been pleasantly surprised as how smooth and even it is - certainly never jarring. On the other hand, secondary roads in SoCal are usually pretty good compared to, say, weather-beaten roads in the Mid-West.
