Fairly standard industry practice. My brother works for Toyota's technical center in Ann Arbor, MI. They'll buy significantly updated or entirely new models that are direct competitors to Toyota or Lexus models and test drive and then completely disassemble them. Employees, especially engineers, are encouraged to check out these cars over weekend and/or for trips. Until the gas price exploded, Toyota even picked up the gas. Few years ago, we had a family vacation and we had a flotilla of GM and Ford vehicles: Caddies and Lincolns. Much better than renting from Enterprise! My brother was very impressed with the Genesis.

What is the take on the current national offer for the EX-L lease? Is it a good deal? I have always purchased my cars and just started looking in to leasing. Taken from Honda's website: $389.00 per month for 36 months. $2,999.00 total due at signing FEATURED SPECIAL LEASE: Closed-end lease for 2009 Odyssey EX-L Automatic Transmission (Model RL3869JW) for $389.00 per month for 36 months with a $2,015.00 capitalized cost reduction available to customers who qualify for the AHFC Super Preferred credit tier. Other rates/tiers are available under this offer. $2,999.00 total due at lease signing (includes first month's payment, with no security deposit, AHFC upfront acquisition fee and capitalized cost reduction; total net capitalized cost and base monthly payment does not include tax, license, title, registration, documentation fees, options, insurance and the like). Not all buyers may qualify. Subject to limited availability. 11/20/2008 through 1/5/2009, to approved lessees by American Honda Finance Corp. Closed end lease for 2009 Odyssey EX-L Automatic Transmission vehicles (Model RL3869JW), for well qualified lessees. Not all lessees will qualify. Higher lease rates apply for lessees with lower credit ratings. MSRP $33,725.00 (includes destination) less the capitalized cost reduction (which may be paid by the suggested dealer contribution) resulting in actual net capitalized cost $29,505.51. Dealer contribution may vary and could affect actual lease payment. Taxes, license, title fees, options and insurance extra. Total monthly payments $14,004.00. Option to purchase at lease end $17,199.75. Lessee responsible for maintenance, excessive wear/tear and 15 cents/mi. over 12,000 miles/year for vehicles with MSRP less than $30,000, but for vehicles with MSRP of $30,000 or more, mileage cost is 20 cents/mi. over 12,000 miles/year. See dealer for complete details.
small skip
by JEanes on Sun Nov 30 17:14:00 PST 2008
I don't see a section for Riviera so I will try here. I have a '97, 3.8 S/Charged. Problem, small skip or "bump" after warm up and mostly after shifting into drive/overdrive. RPM's go up/down 100/200, changed plugs(AC Delco) and (box store wires) . Problem got some better but not gone totally. Tried changing 1 of the power packs and then got a mis-fire code on #3. Went back to orinal p-pack. I also have a bit of a problem with throttle responce. On a grade, I have a bit of lugging, press down on the pedal and have to push about 3/4" and then it jumps to 2300 or so RPM's and shifts into another gear and moves on.
Transmission failure
by rnieves on Sun Nov 30 11:17:26 PST 2008
I have a 91 Ford Explorer. I was driving down the road at 35 mi per hr. when the transmission seemed to go in neutral. I was not able to reengage the gear though the gear shift lever seemed to operate all right. What could it be? The linkage? :confuse:
Re: 2001 Jetta not starting [jodar96]

I ACTUALLY KNOW THIS ONE!! DEAD or almost dead battery. I was cleaning my neighbors Beetle's interior. I needed to vaccum the car so I pluged it up and turned the key to the on position. Little did I know, the DRLs(Daytime Running Lights) were on the entire time! Ok anywho, the radio dimmed out, the lights inside faded away, and the power windows reminded me of my 95 accord's (SUPER SLOW). Then I tried to start the car and it was just loud clicking almost sounding like the Wheel of (mis)fortune and the car wouldn't start. I loooked that up online and saw that that is VW's way of having a dead/dying battery. Next we just jump started the car and all was fine. We just let it run for about 10mins before turning it off. If this is constantly happening to you, I think that your altenator may need replacing because it will not hold a charge. hope this helps! BTW, the next day her beetle's key snapped in half... It was a make shift key, not the switchblade or old style key. Anyone know how to get the switchblade key for a reasonable price that doesn't include paying $350 to the dealership for ONE key? This would be good for her because she really needs a key and me because all the Jetta i've been shopping around for only have one switchblade key :( . -Cj
Re: My Diamante feels like it's swerving on left turns [mdc4]
by diamoney on Sun Nov 30 08:44:00 PST 2008
Actually, I can tell you exactly what it is. It is the rear knuckle-bushings. They are a typical wear part on these cars, and only these cars.. I know, it sucks.. but also know that if you do not repair these you will tear through tires like nobody’s business.. Unfortunately, you have to go to the stealership for repair, or a specific mits guy, otherwise they will mis-diagnose you with, alignment, shocks/struts, bearings, and the like. I think it ran me about $350-$400 (us) and that included an alignment. good-luck.
