Son will keep the ECHO
by babyboomer on Mon Dec 01 18:35:37 PST 2008
Drove the 2001 ECHO from Nashville, TN to Indianapolis, IN. for Thanksgiving. The car did great! The only problem I had was trying to tolerate my son's music. Years ago I swapped the ECHO for his 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee because he commutes many miles each day. I told him I would swap back any time. He said it was the best deal he ever made so will keep the ECHO. I agreed.

The market will bottom out in the first quarter of next year, Tom Libby, an analyst at J.D. Power and Associates, said in an interview with the newscast Automotive News Today. After that, he said, sales gradually will strengthen. OK, what is this guys track record regarding forecasts. I mean last year did he predict this year right? Because in order to know how many vehicles will be sold next year requires a good understanding of macroeconomics. Is this guy a PhD in economics? Not even the best minds on Wall Street or in Washington have a good handle on what's going to happen next month. The situation we're in economically is far more serious then what we're in now. The quote from the other day is that we're in the 1st inning of the next real estate crisis - commercial real estate. And then we have a trillion $ mess with credit card balances that will be hitting soon. And if we have any sort of terrorist attack that wrecks more havoc with trade. If you want proof of the mess we're in, consider that after all the blood that's been shed in the stock market so far, and all that the Treasyury is doing to prop up the financial system including multiple interest rate cuts, financial stocks fell an average of 17% today.
Re: Anyone getting or beating invoice? [chiro2007]

I got my splash guards, wheel lock, trunk tray and rear bumper applique "thrown" into the car. My price was: Sale Price: $27541.24 (includes destination fee) Doc Fee: $150 (capped in IL) Tax(7%): $1938.37 (I am from IN) County Tax: $15 (cook county tax) (legit from my research) IL 7-day permit: $10 (given 2 weeks though, for the price of one ) (legit charge) Based on the sale price alone, this is $995 below invoice, not including the items thrown in. This is for an 09 V6 Accord SDN w/ navi. I know jb_turner is going to say care only about the OTD price, but for a person with 7% tax rate, I would be paying around $29600 OTD, therefore, would this deal be considered worse than the VA deal? Therefore, always negotiate the Sale price and the doc fee as the rest of the fees are usually legit
2004 RX330: Moisture in one HID headlight
by jodar96 on Mon Dec 01 14:28:41 PST 2008
The 2004 RX we picked up has slight moisture in passenger side headlight. It appears that the moisture amount varies with outside temp. Anyway, it is not normal nor acceptable. The RX has 36K miles but it is four months over its 4 year warranty. When I took it to my local Lexus dealer, he said it costs $1488 to replace it. I never liked the HID just for their replacement bulb/headlight cost. I stayed away from these when I was looking for my 2001 E430. With RX330, there are a lot more out there with 18" wheels/HID headlight than with 17"/halogen headlights. Has anyone had similar problem with 2004 HID headlight moisture? This one was built 6/2004. Does Lexus have any kind of good will gesture on these expensive headlights after their warranty runs out. Thanks, Joe
Re: Volvomax - Any ideas on this [qbrozen]
by isellhondas on Mon Dec 01 11:45:29 PST 2008
We wholesale trade ins that we are fearful of and the ones that check out poorly in our shop. It's quite possible that I have just seen more than my share of problem Volvos. I once sold an S-80 to a family friend that was a financial nightmare. In the year she owned it she spent, literally thousands of dollars on it. I had done my best to steer her away from it but,no she had to have it. It was an especially nice one too and I really thought it would work out. This was one of several that caused me grief. Volkswagens are another story. We have had so many problems that our GM won't let us keep them unless they are still under warranty. Of course, they have their fans too who don't seem to have troubles. Not slamming Volvos, just relating MY experiences with them. I loved my PV 544 and if I ever see a good one for sale, I'm going to grab it!
