Son will keep the ECHO
by babyboomer on Mon Dec 01 18:35:37 PST 2008
Drove the 2001 ECHO from Nashville, TN to Indianapolis, IN. for Thanksgiving. The car did great! The only problem I had was trying to tolerate my son's music. Years ago I swapped the ECHO for his 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee because he commutes many miles each day. I told him I would swap back any time. He said it was the best deal he ever made so will keep the ECHO. I agreed.
If the Prius
by boaz47 on Mon Dec 01 18:24:09 PST 2008
was developed because of high gas prices it might have a dog in this fight. But it wasn't, it was the bone Toyota tossed at the American public to get their minds off of a zero emissions vehicle. At least that is what they were in California. Until the Prius CARB mandated a zero emissions vehicle by 2000 and right after the Prius came out the concept was trashed. Hybrids may have a place but there is no law they have to be ugly nor that they are the solution to our fuel useage. If, and there is always a if, there is a limited amount of oil to be drilled for then all cars like the Prius do is slow down that useage and with more drivers getting cars every year that slowing down isn't going to do much. They do not solve the problem and they are not zero emissions. However back to the subject today gas was $1.88 for regular in Riverside, Ca. You would be very hard pressed to get the additional money a hybrid costs over their non hybrid counterparts. So unless I could get Insight fuel mileage why jump on any bandwagon? Hybrids need to optimism fuel mileage and if and when they do then it will not matter what fuel cost they will sell. When they get 15 to 20 percent better fuel mileage than their counter parts and in return cost 15 to 20 percent more they will not sell.

You say only 40,000 suv' s. Thats a huge number isn't it? Thats a total of almost half a million a year. Especially with gas prices taking a dive they will probably sell double that amount this month, that's if anyone can get qualified for a loan. That's not a huge number, if you consider that the Explorer alone used to sell 40,000 or more a month. Take that 40,000 and divide it by 19 SUV/CUV models and you get an average of 2,100 units per model. And that's really poor.
1995 Ford Ranger
by roadrangerette on Mon Dec 01 17:44:33 PST 2008
I have just arrived via a tow truck yet again!! This thing has quit while shifting from 3rd to 4th gear. Just died outright. I let it sit and tried it again checked and reset the safety switch under the dash and tried it again. I disconnected the battery cable and let it sit and reconnected it and put the ignition in on position after for 2 minutes it was still dead and yes I had 3/4 tank of gas. I have replaced the fuel pump in this piece of machine 2 times in 4 years. Is there anyone out there that can offer a suggestion as to what else it could be. I am ready to go to Chevy if this thing doesn't quit letting me down. Please guys I am on my own here and need help. Any info you can offer will be appreciated and I have tools and know how to turn a wrench just need some ideas as to what to turn it on. No I don't have a code tester and hope I don't have to invest in one. It's winter, snow and colder than a well digger here. Thanks guys :confuse:
Gas Tank Reserve
by wvgasguy on Mon Dec 01 17:14:18 PST 2008
I'm on my third tank with my 09HH. Today within a few miles of the empty light coming on I stopped to fill up. It took 14.7 gallons (US). I know in my TCH there was almost 3 gallons of fuel when the tank gage showed empty. Several drivers tested this driving their vehicles dangerously close to bone dry to verify it. Has anyone tested the HH? It appears that I should easily have another 50 miles even after the light comes on but I want to know if that is normal across the line before I would take a chance of driving that close to empty out on the road.

Fun Video. Too bad Toyota only sells their foo foo gas trucks in the USA. I would be happy with a USA UAW built small diesel truck like the Ranger sold everywhere but the USA. When it comes to vehicle selection we are a third world country.
