2006 Nissan Altima Road Test Ratings

The Altima is getting a complete redesign for 2007, and hopefully the new car will build on this model's mechanics while improving its shortcomings in comfort and build quality.

The strong V6 is available with a 6-speed manual - unusual in this class, and the chassis is tuned more aggressively than its competitors.

The ride is firm and the interior is hard, not comfortable and inviting.

Primary controls work well, but the HVAC and stereo controls could be improved.

Good exterior design is let down by interior theme and materials.
