Hi. I have a 2001 GMC Jimmy with a 4.3l vortec. It shuts down all the time while driving down the road but usually only happens when its sittin around a Half tank of fuel. Now it just started doing this when I first start it in the mornings its very hard to start but it idles fine, when I hit the gas it starts mising and the RPMS are very erratic. My 2001 GMC Jimmy SLE has cruise control and I thought there was a light on the instrument panel that lit up when cruise control was on. There is one on my 2004 Sierra. My oldest daughter acquired a '01 Jimmy 2wd. Everything fine and dandy until it wouldn't start. She is 26 (and knows everything) and takes it back to dealer to fix. I HAVE A 2001 GMC JIMMY 4X4 THE BRAKE LIGHT AND THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON SOMETIMES. WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE ON I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES AT ALL THE VEHICLE STOPS LIKE NORMAL. I'm at the go/no go point with a 2001 Jimmy 4x4 SLE two tone, very nice SUV. Body has minimal scratches, interior is great. One owner. Garage kept. Non-smoker/no pets. Woman's car. 85,000 miles. My 2001 Jimmy has 84,000 I have new OEM shocks all around and New tires. My problem is that the vehichle rocks back and forth either by the wind or any small or large bumps,rocks, holes ect. Both levers broke off in my 99 Jimmy. The remaining stub on the driver's side split in two pieces so the aftermarket handle won't work. Has anyone replaced the reclining mechanism? I see there are plastic clips connecting the upholstery to a bar. How do you remove the lumbar support knob? Any help would be appreciated. Read More...

I just bought a 2001 gmc jimmy. Has 100,000 miles. Bought it thinking the clunk was the ball joints or a loose/worn out shock. NOPE!!!! Replaced the ball joints with "Moog" brand. The clunk is only there when you go over bumps that resemble something like going over a set of train tracks. The truck has been to (3) GMC dealers, and (3) high end mechanic shops. NO one ... 2001 GMC Jimmy 4x4 - ABS comes on all the time, even at very low speeds. What could be causing this? Have taken wheels off and pads have lots of life. Noticed however than wheel doesn't spin really freely, does spin but with some friction. I don't know if this has anything to do with it. By the way, the ABS light is not on.
