Adequate is the best word to describe the Ford Sport Trac. It functions as a car and a truck, but excels in neither class.

Dynamics

V8 engine, V6 performance. Six-speed tranny helps, but Sport Trac still isn't as quick its primary compeitors, which use V6 engines.

Comfort

Above average ride and handling thanks to independent rear suspension. Class-leading rear-seat legroom.

Function

Sport Trac is functionally adequate, but lacks flair in any area of usability except its bed design

Design/Build Quality

Sport Trac lacks the finished feel of many of its competitors and has awkward proportions.

Family Friendly The Sport Trac is best suited to those who need the functionality of a small truck but must regularly carry more than two people.

Cargo Hauler Limited bed space diminishes the Sport Trac's truck function, but its bed will suffice for small loads.
